Beaches and Surfing around Kaikoura

Take a short walk around the peninsula to Jimmy Armers beach to swim or fish off the wharf.  Walk a little further to the Seal Colony.  There is a ice cream cart and seafood bbq and bar operating on the beach front most of the year.

Walk 300m past the pier hotel back towards the township and you will be at Gooches beach a popular beach for swimming, kayaking and surfing.

Harmons Motor Museum is located in Bernies Diner at 105Beach Rd

Father and son Geoff and Bernard Harmon have a passion for cars and an outcome of this is that Harmons Motor Museum was established in 2017. The building it occupies was purchased from Mitre 10 after the Kaikōura Earthquake in 2016. Geoff and Bernard Harmon purchased it intending to use it to store their ever-increasing Classic Car collection

Head to Emporium for craft beer and mini golf.  Kaikoura is famous for seafood especially crayfish.

Walk East along Avoca st past Fyffe Historic House and you will head down to Jimmy Armers Beach – where you will find many seals lounging around on the rocks.

There are loads of walks around the Kaikoura pennisula for those who enjoy active relaxing.  The Pensiula walk being a great ?? hour walk.

Whale watching is a famous Kaikoura activity. You can watch whales by boat or via a scenic flight.
