Sorry we don’t currently have air-conditioning, it’s a work in progress. But there is lots of windows that draw the breeze through and being so close to the sea it isn’t too hot to sleep at night.

Yes there is a toybox at the foot of the bed in the master bedroom. There are toys for small children and as well board games in here. There are other cards and games in the buffet cabinet in the dining area.

No sorry there is no bath there. There is a large shower walk in shower in the upstairs bathroom. The down stairs bathroom is quite small with a shower and vanity.

Yes fridge/freezer, microwave, gas hobs, electric oven and a range of utensils etc to ensure you have everything you need to cook while at the property, Also a bbq outside

In the upstairs apartment there is an inbuilt gas and electric fire. This is very cosy and will heat the area very efficiently when the doors are kept closed.

Downstairs there is a convection heater that will warm the living space and bedroom after it has been on for a while. There is also a dehumidifier which will help by removing damp sea air from the rooms to help warm the place quicker.

Yes absolutely we are pet-friendly. We have a couple of dogs so we know that they are part of the family and want to come along on the trip too. The yard is full fenced which is great for pets and kids alike.

Yes we charge a cleaning fee. It takes quite a while to turnover and clean a whole house so if you only rent the upstairs apartment we have a smaller fee, as opposed to the larger fee if you are renting the entire home. We still would appreciate you tidying up after yourselves and taking the rubbish out to reduce smells in the house.

We have a hammock and swing in the back yard. And the Aloe trees are fun to try and climb for brave kids. We have some outdoor sports equipment in the Keter box around the back like volleyballs, soccer balls, badminton and croquet set. Just a short walk down the road you will find the Pier Hotel which has a playground for the kids including a trampoline and climbing equipment.

Kaikoura Activities

Yes, the swimming beach – Gooches Bay is a 500 metre walk back towards town. But if you would just like to be near the water you only have to turn left when leaving the property and the water is a couple of 100 metres away. You might even see a seal sunbathing on the rocks as you head past Fyffe House.

There is so much to do in Kaikoura from the usual tourism activities listed on our things to do page, plus other activities, like boating/fishing, local walk and cycle trails. We have sports equipment for setting up in the backyard as well.

Sleeping arrangements

The upstairs has 2 bedrooms both with Queen Size beds. There is a small sitting room that could fit a single rollaway or mattress. The downstairs has a rear bedroom with a Superking bed which can also be split to two long singles. There is a Queen Bed off the main living area that has a fold away door to make a bedroom, and there is also a sofa bed in the lounge.
